Ceremony and dirty little are the weak links but both have some good individual tracks. If you want to hear something even earlier ck out southern death cult. Dreamtime I am ok with but it was very unpolished. Weapon takes a few times to listen to appreciate it, so if you haven't. The Black Goat album is very good too and takes them into a different sound. Sonic temple and beyond good and evil are worthy in the 3 and 4 slot. Personally like electric better but I am more of a rock fan. They show the range and variety of The Cult.
Love and Electric are two of the best albums I own. I'm a bit of a fan so I feel obligated to chime in. Regardless, Electric pretty much made them millionaires for a while. Should the Cult have stayed more like they were on The Love album or became what they became 9by the way, after Sonic Temple, they were much ado about nothing to music lovers and radio/MTV). The Snake Despite, awful clothing and Ian's stupid hair, this is Love Removal in '86 Love Removal Machine after they found RR to produce Electric and it was released Which do you like better. After my list, I will give you a comparison model of what the Cult was going to do (the Manor sessions stuff, etc.) versus what they became. You still might have thought it was the best anyway. If you had not listened to the Dreamtime album and Love albums, you may have thought Electric was badass and nothing was better. In 1987, Double R obviously wanted them to become more like ACDC and GNR and stripped them down to power chords and screams.
The Cult from '83-'86 were sort of alternative, before alternative became hip to the scene.
I think there are a handful of us who have listened to every song, including the B sides.
